Living as a Christian in today’s world is one of the greatest challenges — and privileges — any person can embrace. Culture shifts rapidly, values are contested, and the pressure to conform is immense. Yet Jesus did not call us to be perfect religious rule-keepers. He called us to follow Him, love others, and let our light shine (Matthew 5:16).
Be in the World, Not of It
John 17:15-16 records Jesus praying that we would not be taken out of the world, but protected from the evil one — “They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.” This is the tension every Christian lives in. We are called to engage fully with culture, work, relationships, and society — while maintaining a distinctly Kingdom-shaped set of values.
Practical Ways to Live Your Faith Daily
- Start every day with God — A few minutes of prayer and Scripture sets the tone for everything.
- Let love define your relationships — Jesus said the world will know we are His disciples by our love (John 13:35).
- Work with integrity — Colossians 3:23 calls us to work “as working for the Lord.”
- Speak truth graciously — Ephesians 4:15 — speak the truth in love.
- Serve others sacrificially — Jesus came not to be served, but to serve (Mark 10:45).
- Guard your mind — Philippians 4:8 tells us to think about whatever is true, noble, right, and pure.
